The Skoda Epiq has been extensively spotted undergoing testing across various regions of  Europe ahead of its 2026 release. Testing involves winter trials and high-altitude tests in Spain’s Sierra Nevada mountains. These test cars are believed to be very close to the final production model, though they remain heavily disguised. Despite the camouflage, several key design details are clearly visible.

The prototypes show slim front bumper air vents, which help with better aerodynamics and brake cooling. The car has thick C-pillars for better strength and safety, a sporty sloping rear window, and Skoda’s T-shaped LED headlights and taillights. Roof rails are a feature, as is lower body cladding to help shield the car on rough roads.

The car is pictured rolling on low-rolling-resistance tires mounted to production-like five-lug alloy wheels. Unlike larger Skoda electric SUVs such as the Enyaq, the Epiq is expected to use a front-wheel-drive layout. This packaging approach can help optimise interior space, especially in a compact SUV format.

This setup is expected to help maximise interior space, with reports suggesting a boot capacity of around 475–490 litres, though official figures are yet to be confirmed. Testing is focused on checking real-world range, efficiency, handling, and battery temperature control on the MEB Entry+ platform, which it shares with the Volkswagen ID.2 and Cupra Raval.

Spy images also confirm that the production version looks very close to the 2024–2025. Skoda Epiq concept, It follows Skoda’s “Modern Solid” design language, which means a clean, strong, and practical look with a sculpted bonnet and an upright SUV stance.

When Is the Skoda Epiq Global and India Launch & Release Date?

The production version of the Epiq is expected to go on sale globally in mid-2026, with Skoda confirming its upstart SUV will get a ‘natural and energetic’ design inspired by nature. Production is expected to commence in early 2026 at Volkswagen Group facilities in Spain, primarily at the Pamplona and Martorell plants. Deliveries to customers in Europe are due to begin by the end of 2026.

In India, it’s likely to come a little later – probably towards late 2026 or early/mid-2027. This timeline may vary depending on local assembly plans, homologation requirements, and government approvals.

Skoda plans to focus first on Europe but has clearly shown interest in launching affordable electric cars in India. Local assembly or CKD production could help reduce costs and make the car eligible for government benefits.

What Is the Expected Skoda Epiq Price in Europe and India?

Skoda is positioning the Epiq as one of the more affordable electric SUVs in Europe. The estimated starting price will be in between €25,000–€26,000 and that is more or less the same as what gasoline Skoda Kamiq costs. There may be more expensive variants with extra features or larger batteries.

In India, the Skoda Epiq is expected to be priced in the ₹20–25 lakh (ex-showroom) range. If the vehicle is locally manufactured, it could benefit from lower import duties and available EV subsidies under central or state government schemes, potentially bringing the starting price closer to ₹23 lakh (ex-showroom). Priced at this level, the Epiq will rival cars such as Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric (coming soon), MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6.

What Key Specifications and Features Are Expected from Skoda Epiq Spied Prototypes?

The Skoda Epiq is expected to be about 4.1 metres long and is built on the MEB Entry+ platform with front-wheel drive. Based on spy reports and early details, the expected specifications include:

  • Battery options: 38 kWh to 56 kWh
  • WLTP driving range: More than 400–425 km on a full charge
  • Electric motor power: Around 208–226 hp

Overall, the Epiq is designed to offer efficient city driving while still being fun to drive.

What Does the Skoda Epiq Interior Design and Features Include?

The interior of the Skoda Epiq follows a clean and modern “Mobile First” design approach. The cabin uses eco-friendly and recycled materials, making it more sustainable.

Key interior highlights include:

  • A large 13-inch floating touchscreen for infotainment
  • A compact digital instrument cluster for driving information
  • A two-spoke steering wheel with haptic controls and some physical buttons
  • An open centre console with wireless phone charging
  • Plenty of smart storage spaces, including underfloor storage
  • Comfortable seating for five passengers, with good headroom and legroom

The interior design focuses on ease of use, combining touch controls with physical buttons for better everyday usability.

Why Is the Skoda Epiq Generating Strong Interest in India?

The Skoda Epiq is generating strong interest in India because it combines European build quality with Skoda’s practical design approach, a usable driving range, a spacious cabin, and a competitive price. This combination could make it an appealing option for Indian urban buyers looking for a reliable electric SUV.

With India’s EV charging network growing and strong government support for electric vehicles, the Epiq could become a strong alternative to existing domestic EVs. It also offers a more premium feel compared to many rivals in the same price range.

Overall, the production-ready design previews indicate that the Skoda Epiq could emerge as a well-balanced electric SUV with a strong focus on design, usability, and efficiency. Additional official content, including full specs and variation details, should come nearer to its mid-2026 global roll-out.
