Within the performance sedan market, the Skoda Octavia RS has established its niche. The Octavia RS offers exhilarating performance, dynamic styling, and daily usefulness by fusing Czech engineering with Volkswagen Group technology.

This vehicle provides a wealth of value for both family car purchasers and auto aficionados. We examine in detail what makes the Skoda Octavia RS such a desirable choice in its class in this post.

Skoda Octavia RS Exterior

The MQB Evo platform from the Volkswagen Group serves as the foundation for the 2019 debut of the current generation Octavia. The makeover for that model, which was launched early last year, is making a comeback in India. The facelift receives the necessary stylistic modifications, but the RS version sees more significant changes, including a new interior, some new technology, and an increase in engine power.

Sharper styling is applied to the car’s exterior, especially in the RS variant. The angular DRL trademark emphasizes the prominence of the headlights cutting into the bumper. The exterior of the bumper is chiseled, and the blacked-out, pointed, triangular pieces contain inlets that direct air around the front wheels. The bottom air intake section and grille are blacked out, and the grille has the RS logo because it is the RS variant.

Skoda Octavia RS Interior

A new 13-inch touchscreen that is sharp and quick to touch is the main difference, even though the inside of the facelifted Octavia is almost the same.

Fortunately, some features, like drive-mode selection and HVAC, are accessible through the buttons below, while other settings, like the engine start-stop, are located on the screen.  With its black upholstery and contrasting red stitching and cloth, the RS’s sports seats look truly awesome.

The deep bolstering felt ideal for my petite frame, and the comfort is good.  Additionally, the dashboard has red stitching, neoprene covering, and is completely black.  The three-spoke steering wheel has comfortable, recognizable scroll wheels and the RS insignia at the bottom.

Since this is a Skoda, it has several of the brand’s recognizable “Simply Clever” features, such as a phone holder that slides into the cup holders and—my personal favorite—a little microfiber duster that can be safely kept within the center console to clean the touchscreen.

Engine

Skoda still offers the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine option for the Octavia RS. But the power of this turbo engine has increased. With 265 horsepower, the new Octavia outperforms the standard facelift variant. In India, our most recent Octavia RS generated 230 and 245 horsepower.

Thus, the Porsche Macan Standard’s engine generates the same amount of power. But in this case, the gearbox is DSG, and the tune follows Skoda’s DNA. Therefore, in addition to the identical power values, there is a great deal of difference.

When we switch to the dynamic mode, the Octavia becomes snappy after being incredibly calm in the comfort driving mode. Even when you downshift, the car pulls smoothly and without jerking when you push it on the freeway.

To meet the demands of consumers who will also be using it on the road, the turbocharger has been adjusted. As a result, even with its strong performance, the engine doesn’t seem particularly violent or crazy. We drove at a steady 130–140 km/h without any problems on the Croatian roadways. Additionally, the driving was rather comfortable even at these speeds. We never even felt like we were traveling 80–90 km/h. This comes down to a lot of Octavia-related things.

Technology

There is a lot of technology available on the Octavia RS. First, there is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch touchscreen system with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a head-up display with augmented reality. There are Bolero Speaker sets available with a subwoofer if that isn’t sufficient. Yes, the front seats of the automobile are ventilated.

Pricing

The Octavia RS will be imported by Skoda. Therefore, Skoda will offer this car as a bespoke buy rather than importing it to India and then selling it to customers. Your automobile can be customized before being constructed in the Czech Republic and sent to India.

After placing your purchase, it will take between two to four months for you to get the vehicle. Additionally, since the automobile will be made just for you, you won’t receive a refund if you decide to cancel the purchase or any other terms after customizing it and paying in advance.

Additionally, Skoda will ship the diesel Octavia to India. To be fair, the diesel will be imported entirely into India at first, and they will consider obtaining the Octavia through the CKD route later. The price will also drop as a result.

Therefore, the Octavia diesel that will be imported into India as its whole will include a few extra parts and be available as a limited edition. By the middle of 2025, the Skoda Octavia RS will arrive in India, followed by the Octavia diesel around Diwali 2025. I hope that we have fully clarified this for you.

Conclusion

The Skoda Octavia RS skillfully combines everyday usefulness with exhilarating performance.  Its aggressive styling, modern electronics, and strong yet elegant engine provide a thrilling driving experience without sacrificing comfort.  The Octavia RS redefines what a sporty daily driver can be, making it an appealing option in the performance sedan market that is perfect for both families and enthusiasts.
