According to official papers, the Indian Air Force (IAF) executed Operation Sindoor Live in just 23 minutes, effectively evading and jamming Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defense systems in a stunning display of technological power and operational accuracy.
Targeting vital Pakistani military infrastructure and air defense radars, including a crucial station close to Lahore, the operation took place early on May 8, 2025. According to the official statement, all Indian assets returned safely, highlighting the mission’s faultless performance.
A Calibrated Response
According to the PIB report, Operation Sindoor Live was a major turning point in India’s defense capabilities. It was initiated as a well-coordinated military reaction to growing asymmetric warfare and cross-border terror strikes.
Pakistan’s synchronized drone and missile attacks on many Indian towns, including Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, and Bhuj, on the intervening night of May 7 and 8, set off the operation. By using radars, missile batteries, and electronic countermeasures, India’s layered air defense systems and Integrated Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Grid were able to successfully intercept these threats.
Noor Khan and Rahimyar Khan, two important Pakistani airbases, were precisely targeted by India’s offensive attacks. According to the statement, loitering munitions were deployed with disastrous results.
The IAF retaliated by precisely hitting Pakistan’s air defense system, neutralizing several HQ-9 and HQ-16 surface-to-air missiles manufactured in China. To jam and get around enemy radars, the Indian forces employed a mix of electronic warfare techniques and indigenous technology, including the Russian-made S-400 (Sudarshan Chakra), the Barak-8, and the Akash missile system.
Thanks to the “Make in India” campaign and a strong push for independence, India has become a significant center for defense manufacturing. Exports jumped to ₹23,622 crore in FY 2024-25, a 34-fold rise from 2013-14, while domestic defense output hit a record ₹1.27 lakh crore in FY 2023-24.
Chinese, Turkish weapons used by Pakistan
Pieces of Chinese-made PL-15 missiles, Turkish-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) called “Yiha” or “Yeehaw,” long-range rockets, quadcopters, and commercial drones were among the tangible proof of neutralized hostile technology that Operation Sindoor also generated.
“These were recovered and identified, showing that despite Pakistan’s attempts to exploit advanced foreign-supplied weaponry, India’s indigenous air defence and electronic warfare networks remained superior,” according to the press statement.
ISRO’s contribution to Operation Sindoor
“At least ten satellites are operational around the clock for strategic purposes to guarantee the safety and security of the nation’s citizens,” ISRO Chairman V Narayanan stated at a function on May 11.
The government must use its satellites to serve to guarantee national security. It must keep an eye on its 7,000 kilometers of coastline. It must constantly keep an eye on the whole Northern region. The nation cannot accomplish that without drone and satellite technologies,” the statement stated.
Operation Sindoor Live: India will not tolerate terrorism, the vice president said.
India has sent a strong message to the world that terrorism would no longer be accepted, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said, praising the Indian Army for Operation Sindoor. He said that the Indian military’s Operation Sindoor Live, which was initiated in the wake of the Pahalgam terror incident that claimed 26 lives, had raised the bar internationally.
“Today, first and foremost, I shall salute the valor of the Indian Army. The goal of combating terrorism was achieved while maintaining peace, and this is the first time that a precise hit has been made on the hideouts of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba in their most effective province by crossing the international border, whose proof no one in the world is asking for,” Mr Dhankar stated.
India’s power has been witnessed by the entire world. The world has received a very important message from India. That is to say, we will not put up with terrorism. Because terrorism affects the entire world, not just any one nation,” he continued.
Conclusion
Operation Sindoor Live, which demonstrates unparalleled accuracy, domestic technological prowess, and strategic commitment, is a turning point in India’s defense history. The mission, which was perfectly executed in reaction to cross-border violence, sent a strong message: India would not stand for terrorism anymore. The operation showed India’s preparedness to protect national security and maintain its sovereignty through the use of cutting-edge equipment and coordinated military action.
