VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, introduced its first cars in India in September 2025. VinFast plans to manufacture the VF6 and VF7 at its upcoming Thoothukudi facility in Tamil Nadu, with initial units being imported. After the introduction, as of January 2026, VinFast has raised the prices by a small margin. The price increase is up to ₹1.3 lakh; however, both SUVs remain competitively priced even after the hike.

VinFast VF7 and VinFast VF6: Key Differences
The VF6 is a small and easy-to-drive SUV-style coupe, more suitable for daily and city driving. The VF7, meanwhile, is a larger, more powerful and high-end SUV tailored to families seeking additional roominess, luxury and performance.

There is simply more room inside the VF7 than in the VF6. It offers more legroom, a wider body and boot. The VF7’s boot capacity is 537 litres, while the VF6 offers 423 litres, making the VF7 more suitable for long trips and family use.
Battery Capacity and Range (ARAI/WLTP-claimed; real-world varies):
- VF6: Comes with a single 59.6 kWh battery for all variants. The claimed driving range is up to 468 km for the Earth trim and 463 km for higher trims. It supports fast charging, with 10–70% charge in around 25 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger.
- VF7: 59.6 kWh battery in base Earth model, higher trims use the 70.8-kWh pack. Claimed range varies by variant, with figures ranging from approximately 438 km to over 500 km, depending on battery pack and drivetrain. Quick charge from 10–70%: about 24 to 28 minutes.
As of now, detailed real-world range data for India is unavailable, and actual range may vary depending on driving conditions.
Tyre Size:
- VF6: Equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels for the India version, with taller sidewalls to handle rough and uneven roads better.
- VF7: Comes with 19-inch alloy wheels in India. Some global models get up to 21-inch wheels, but India-spec models are expected to stick with 19-inch wheels on higher trims.
Performance:
- VF6: Available only with front-wheel drive (FWD). Power output is 177 hp and 250 Nm in the base variant, while higher trims produce 204 hp and 310 Nm.
- VF7: Lower variants are FWD, while the top variant offers all-wheel drive (AWD). The most powerful version produces up to 349 hp and 500 Nm, with a 0–100 km/h time of around 5.8 seconds, making it much quicker than the VF6.
Interior:
VinFast VF6 and VF7 SUVs feature contemporary and tech-oriented interiors. They come with vegan leather seats, ambient illumination and a panoramic sunroof in the higher-spec versions.
Both models follow a minimalist dashboard layout with large central touchscreens, while higher variants offer a head-up display (HUD) instead of a traditional instrument cluster. A generously appointed 12.9-inch central touchscreen fills the dash of VF7, though even larger screens are available in some of its forms.
The VF7 feels more premium overall. It uses more soft-touch materials, offers heated and ventilated seats, better rear seat comfort, and a more luxurious cabin experience compared to the VF6.
Other Features:
Both the VinFast VF6 and VF7 come well-equipped with features like Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, wireless phone charging, and connected car technology. VinFast is also expected to add Hindi voice commands through future OTA updates.
